Did You Generate the Income You Wanted Last Year?

My GCGM designers are often surprised that we spend just as much time developing their money mindset as we do on their best business practices. And I explain the same thing every time … how you think and feel about money is just as important as how you earn it! It’s important you think rich, feel rich, and take rich actions in order to achieve the design business and lifestyle you want and to support the people and causes that are important to you.

Money (3)

To help you get started, here are some money magnets to help you put a healthy mindset into your life and your business:

“I’m responsible for my financial success and no one else”:
Your financial situation is a direct result of your own actions. If you find yourself blaming others for your situation, you are not accepting responsibility. Worse yet, you are falling into a “helpless, I can’t do anything about it” attitude that will keep you stuck. You can’t control circumstance, but you can control how you respond to it! Wealthy people create their own lives; you need to know that for yourself too.

“I learn about making money from wealthy people”:
If you take business or money advice from someone who is struggling in their business, chances are you’ll struggle too. On the other hand, if you look to mentors that are successful in the way you want to be, who know how to make and manage money, it’s likely you’ll rise to their level of success instead of being dragged down.

“I take good care of my money”:
If you don’t take care of the money you already have, it isn’t likely the universe will send you more. Your money management system doesn’t need to be complicated; you just need to stay on top of it. Ignoring your bills will not help you achieve wealth.

PROFESSIONAL TIP: What you focus on expands! Set your focus on creating a positive and healthy financial flow instead of focusing on your debt! Create a payoff plan and to pay off your debts and bills and then set the intention to honor it.

“I play big, I charge for my value”:
Thinking small leads to small bank accounts. Big thinking leads to big money. Instead of focusing on making a comfortable living, set some higher goals for yourself. Commit to making some changes in how you run your business.

You need to know that undercharging, over delivering, forgetting to track your hours, and reducing time invoices before sending them are all examples of how you’re letting your hard earned money leak out of your business.

To stop the leaks, you need to begin charging for value that you bring to a design job instead of the hours you work. When you make this transition your business income increases dramatically. And guess what, it isn’t hard to do!
